Advisory

Evacuation Route Update

In the event of a wildfire or other major disaster, Bear Valley has three evacuation routes: Through the Main Gate, on Deertrail Drive, and Skyline Drive.

Since the Deertrail and Skyline evacuation routes pass through non-CSD land, there are locked gates on the roads. The CSD is adding locks that can be unlocked with a code on each route. If an evacuation is ordered, alerts will be sent to the community with those codes so they can be opened. Those routes are not to be used unless ordered by emergency services. Alerts will be sent on a variety of sources, including Nixle (https://www.bvcsd.org/nixle), the CSD website, social media, our Emergency Radio Team (https://www.bvcsd.org/.../disaster-preparedness-the-bvs...), and through other emergency services agencies' alert systems.

The CSD is also adding “Evacuation Route” signs to each of those roads to help guide traffic if they need to be used. Deertrail and Skyline have been inspected by CSD teams to confirm they will be safe and effective in an emergency.
