INCIDENT: Fatal Crash
LOCATION: United States 395 Highway/ Cactus Road
VICTIM(S): Richard Metcalf, 61-year-old resident of San Diego
SUMMARY: On Friday, January 17, 2025, at about 7:20 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station, along with deputies from the Victor Valley Station, Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel, responded to the area of United States Highway 395 and Cactus Road, in the city of Victorville, for a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.
Upon arrival, it was determined a white Cadillac Escalade crashed into a pedestrian in the number two northbound lane of United States Highway 395. The pedestrian, identified as Richard Metcalf of San Diego, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Cadillac Escalade remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team arrived on scene and assumed the investigation. United States Highway 395 between Cactus Road and Adelanto Road was closed for several hours.
