ALERT: Parking ban
PARKING BAN ORDERED (Effective 1/19/2025 7 PM):
The Town of Fairfield is expecting a snowfall of 4-8”, beginning at 4pm Sunday.
First Selectman Gerber announced, “In accordance with the Fairfield Police Department's Emergency Parking Restrictions, an alternate side-parking ban will be implemented throughout the Town. To assist the Department of Public Works with plowing and snow removal, and to ensure traffic flow is not obstructed, alternate side parking will be in effect from 7PM tonight until noon on Monday.”
Street parking will only be allowed on even-numbered sides of any street. Any vehicle found in violation of this executive order may be issued a parking ticket and/or be towed at the discretion of the Fairfield Police Department. Officers will make reasonable efforts to contact owners before taking enforcement action.
First Selectman Gerber continued, “Travel conditions are expected to be hazardous, so we urge residents to avoid using the roads during the storm whenever possible to allow DPW to clear the snow efficiently. Additionally, please remember that Fairfield property owners are responsible for removing snow and ice from the sidewalks along their property within 24 hours after the storm ends. Keeping sidewalks clear is essential for pedestrian safety and for ensuring fire hydrants remain accessible. Stay safe, Fairfielders.”
Residents should be aware the Fairfield Police Department is available as an emergency warming station for those in need.
