RED FLAG ACTIVATION
The National Weather Service is predicting that the a wind event on Monday, January 20, 2025. Very windy conditions are expected with northeast winds 15 to 25 mph, increasing to 30 to 40 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 55 mph.
Southern California Edison (SCE) has identified several circuits in the Sierra Madre area that may be shut off for precautionary purposes. These shut-offs may last up to 48 hours in some areas.
Sierra Madre Fire Chief Brent Bartlett has directed the activation
of Red Flag Parking Restrictions within designated areas. This alert is effective from 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, through 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21. The alert can be extended based on weather conditions.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are expected. This, in combination with dry fuels, could create extreme fire danger and/or fire behavior. Please use caution with potential fire sources.
In order to allow for improved fire department access and resident evacuation, parking is restricted on posted narrow and/or winding roads within Sierra Madre’s urban-wildland interface areas.
The Sierra Madre Police and Fire Departments are asking that residents keep the streets clear for emergency vehicle access.

Red Flag conditions will be in effect and parking on the following streets is prohibited:
(1) Mount Wilson Trail;
(2) Churchill Road;
(3) Skyland Drive;
(4) Fern Glen;
(5) Fern Drive;
(6) Idle Hour;
(7) Canyon Crest Drive;
(8) Orange Drive;
(9) Woodland Drive;
(10) Brookside Lane;
(11) Sunnyside Lane;
(12) Yucca Trail;
(13) Holly Trail;
(14) Sturtevant; and
(15) Elm.

The LA County Public Works Department has set up a mudflow hotline for residents in the Eaton Fire Impact Zone. LA County engineers will help residents prepare plans to mitigate potential mudflow.
