* WHERE...Central Highlands, Estancia Valley, Curry County, Roosevelt County, Upper Rio Grande Valley, and Northeast Highlands.
* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 8 AM MST this morning. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 5 PM this afternoon to 11 AM MST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills will increase the risk of hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.
* AFFECTED AREAS: UPPER RIO GRANDE VALLEY ... ESTANCIA VALLEY ... CENTRAL HIGHLANDS ... NORTHEAST HIGHLANDS ... CURRY COUNTY ... ROOSEVELT COUNTY
Instructions:
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing, wrap, drain or allow them to drip slowly. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.
