* WHAT...For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, northeast Nebraska, and southeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 6 PM CST this evening. For the Extreme Cold Warning, from 6 PM this evening to noon CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LYON ... SIOUX ... PLYMOUTH ... WOODBURY ... DIXON ... DAKOTA ... UNION

Instructions:

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside. Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
