...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO NOON CST TUESDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero expected.

* WHERE...In Illinois, Saint Clair IL County. In Missouri, Saint Louis City MO and Saint Louis MO Counties.

* WHEN...From midnight tonight to noon CST Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Dangerous Cold Tonight into Tuesday. Bitter Cold Temperatures and Dangerous Wild Chills. Temperatures in the single digits above and below zero will result in wind chills from 10 to 23 degrees below zero. Stay Safe. Anyone outside without proper clothing will be at risk for frostbite and hypothermia. Limit any outdoor exposure. Protect outdoor animals.

What is a cold weather advisory? At the start of this season, the former Wind Chill Advisory product was replaced with the Cold Weather Advisory. Why the change? The former product was specific to wind chill values, while the new product also encompasses dangerously cold temperatures as well even if there is little to no wind. Did the threshold change? New threshold values for Cold Weather Advisories have been created across the nation, incorporating local climatology. Did the Wind Chill Warning also get changed? Yes, This has been replaced with the Extreme Cold Warning.
