INCIDENT: Domestic Violence with Injury, False Imprisonment, Assault With Force Likely to Cause Great Bodily Injury, Brandishing a Weapon
LOCATION: 17700 block of Randall Avenue, unincorporated Bloomington
VICTIM: Adult Female
SUSPECT: Jose Vargas Zambrano, a 33-year-old resident of Bloomington
SUMMARY: On Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 9:51 A.M., Fontana Station deputies responded to a 911 call regarding a female who was assaulted. Upon arrival, deputies learned the victim was pregnant with Jose Vargas Zambrano's child. During an argument, Zambrano repeatedly struck her, forced her back into a bedroom, held her down, and choked her. Zambrano armed himself with a knife, brandished it towards her, and prevented her from leaving the residence to seek help. Eventually, the victim escaped and sought assistance. She was evaluated by medical personnel at the scene for injuries suffered during the assault.
Zambrano, who was no longer armed with the knife, refused to exit his residence and was uncooperative with deputies. To prevent him from again arming himself, deputies forcibly entered the residence, removed Zambrano, and arrested him.
At the conclusion of the investigation, Zambrano was booked into the West Valley Detention Center for several crimes, including domestic violence with injuries, false imprisonment, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, and brandishing a weapon. He was booked in lieu of $50,000 bail which he later posted and was released from custody.
