Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun and drug charges following an investigation.
Beginning in December, members of the Gun Intelligence Unit have been conducting an investigation into 22-year-old Shanmir Gasby for illegal firearm possession and illegal drug sales. On January 15, at approximately 12:02 p.m., police executed a search warrant in the 1200 block of West 4th Street and took Gasby into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 12 gauge shotgun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun, 2,948.94 grams of marijuana, and $2,696.
Gasby has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 2 Quantity
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $43,000 cash-only bail.
