Suspect Arrested when Deputies Respond to a Call for an Armed Subject in Bloomington

INCIDENT: Under the Influence of Narcotics While Armed
LOCATION: 18400 block of 10th Street, Unincorporated Bloomington
SUSPECT: Gabriel Alvarado, a 31-year-old Male Resident of Unincorporated Bloomington
SUMMARY: On Monday, January 20, 2025, at about 2:54 p.m., Fontana Station deputies responded to a 911 call regarding an armed subject wearing body armor in the 18400 block of 10th Street, unincorporated Bloomington. Deputies learned Gabriel Alvarado, a 31-year-old male resident of unincorporated Bloomington, was having a mental health crisis, causing a disturbance, and there were other people present at the residence.
After arriving, with the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation, deputies found Alvarado pacing around, acting erratically, while wearing body armor and armed with multiple firearms. Deputies made public address (PA) announcements, but Alvarado did not initially surrender. While deputies instructed everyone else to vacate the area, Alvarado exited the residence, while wearing the body armor, and surrendered. A search led to the discovery of several firearms and ammunition which were seized.
Alvarado was found to be under the influence of narcotics while armed. He was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center where he remains in custody in lieu of $130,000.00 bail.
