Convicted Felon Found in Possession of a Loaded Firearm and Suspected Methamphetamine

INCIDENT: PC-29800(A)(1) - Felon In Possession of a Firearm, H&S 11370.1(A) - Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed, PC 25850(C)(1) - Felon in Possession of Loaded Firearm, and H&S 11377(A)- Possession of a Controlled Substance.
LOCATION: North K Street and Chestnut Street, Needles
SUSPECT(S): Miguel Hernandez, 64-years-old, Resident of Needles, CA
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 1:41 p.m., deputies from the Colorado River Station/ Needles Police Department, contacted Miguel Hernandez during a traffic enforcement stop near North K Street and Chestnut Street, in the city of Needles. During the course of the investigation, Hernandez was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm. Hernandez is a felon and is prohibitited from being in possession of a firearm. Hernandez was also found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine.
Hernandez was consequently arrested for the above charges and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking. Hernandez remains in the custody of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department with a bail amount of $40,000.00, awaiting a court hearing.
