Public Notice from the Hawthorne Police Department Traffic Bureau:
Public Notice from the Hawthorne Police Department Traffic Bureau
To all Borough of Hawthorne residents:
We would like to remind you of the borough’s parking ordinance, § 505-49 Parking of vehicles on roadways, and the importance of complying with these regulations, especially during winter weather events.
Key Points of the Ordinance:
- 24-Hour Limit: No vehicle may be parked or left standing unattended on a roadway within the Borough of Hawthorne for a period longer than 24 hours.
- 48-Hour Limit: Any vehicle parked continuously for over 48 hours on a street or highway will be considered abandoned, and the Police Department is authorized to have it removed.
Additionally, leaving vehicles on the roadway covered with snow for extended periods is a direct violation of this ordinance. This practice not only inconveniences your neighbors but also hinders the Department of Public Works (DPW) from effectively plowing and maintaining clear roadways during and after snowfalls.
Your cooperation ensures our streets remain safe and accessible for emergency vehicles, DPW crews, and all residents. Please move your vehicles promptly after snowfall to avoid violations, fines, or towing.
Thank you for your attention and commitment to keeping Hawthorne a safe and well-maintained community.
