Berkeley Police arrest suspect in January 12 assault investigation, recover illegal firearm 
On January 21st, the Berkeley Police Department's Bike Detail, working in conjunction with our detectives, successfully apprehended a suspect wanted in connection with a violent assault that occurred earlier this month. The arrest took place at a residence in Emeryville, where officers also recovered an unlawfully possessed firearm and other evidence.
The investigation stemmed from a January 12th incident where two victims were assaulted at a residence on Fairview Street. During that incident, the suspect allegedly participated in a physical assault that left one victim with multiple injuries. A female suspect was arrested at the scene when she returned to the location following the initial assault.
This operation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man from Emeryville, who was taken into custody without incident outside an Emeryville residence.
"The recovery of an unlawfully possessed firearm during this operation has made our community safer and demonstrates our commitment to removing illegal weapons from our streets,” said Captain Mike Durbin
The investigation into this incident remains active, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
