Wilmington Police arrest two male juveniles in connection to armed robbery:

Wilmington Police have arrested two male juveniles in connection to an armed robbery.

On January 18, at approximately 12:12 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of Townsend Place in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival, responding officers obtained a description of the suspect vehicle. A short time later, police observed the suspect vehicle in the area of Vandever Avenue and North Claymont Street. Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop at that location, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. The vehicle was then located in the area of West 8th and North Jefferson Streets where two male subjects fled from the vehicle on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, police took a 16-year-old male juvenile and a 17-year-old male juvenile into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, and a loaded .32 caliber handgun that had previously been reported stolen.

The 16-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $74,000 cash-only bail.

The 17-year-old male juvenile has been charged with the following offenses:
  • Robbery (First Degree)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
  • Receiving a Stolen Firearm
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
  • Conspiracy (Second Degree)
  • Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and was committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $51,500 cash-only bail.
