Shots Fired at Vehicle Leads to Felony Charge for Old Fort Man
Detective Derrick McGinnis with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 23-year-old David Charles Howard of Old Fort with felony Discharging a Firearm or Barreled Weapon into an Occupied Vehicle. Howard was given a secured bond of $15,000.
On December 29, 2024, Detective McGinnis received a report of a possible assault with a firearm. He was advised by Deputy Alicia Lund that an altercation had occurred that evening in Old Fort with shots being fired at an occupied vehicle. No injuries were reported.
Upon further investigation, Howard was arrested and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.
