Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection to November 2024 shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection to a November 2024 shooting incident following an investigation.
On November 7, 2024, at approximately 6:16 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the unit block of East 23rd Street in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a 39-year-old male gunshot victim, and a 30-year-old male gunshot victim, who were transported to the hospital in stable condition.
The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 24-year-old Melvin Keys, and 19-year-old Kyon Harvey as suspects and obtained warrants for their arrest. Keys and Harvey are currently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on unrelated matters.
Keys has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
Harvey has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
