Waking up to below freezing temperatures, hazardous road conditions
This morning, Friday, January 24. 2025, Beaufort County residents and visitors are waking up to below-freezing temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service, the past 13-16 hours of below-freezing temperatures have resulted in the refreezing of snow and slush that melted on Thursday. Temperatures are forecasted to reach the mid-40s by late afternoon which will create several hours of good melting conditions this afternoon. Tonight, forecasters say clear skies, light to calm winds, and residual snow pack should result in low temperatures between 20 to 25 degrees. This, once again, will result in the refreezing of any melted ice/sleet/snow.
We urge you to remain off the roads unless travel is necessary as hazardous conditions are likely.
