High Wind Warning until 12:00PM Sunday
* WHAT...Along Turnagain Arm and the Anchorage Hillside, Southeast winds 35 to 55 mph with gusts up to 70 mph. For lower elevations of Anchorage and Eagle River, Southeast winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts 30 to 50 mph.
* WHERE...Anchorage.
* WHEN...From 1 AM Saturday to noon AKST Sunday.
* IMPACTS...High winds could move loose debris, damage property, and cause power outages. Travel could be difficult.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of wind and rain (and resulting standing water or wet ground) could bring down trees, particularly in areas where the ground is not frozen or where trees are already weakened from the recent windstorm. There will likely be multiple peaks and lulls in the overall strength of the winds tonight through Sunday morning, but they will largely remain gusty the entire time - especially along the Anchorage Hillside.
* AFFECTED AREAS: ANCHORAGE
Instructions:
People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around or damaged by the wind. Prepare for the possibility of widespread power outages. Use caution if you must drive.
