URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 331 PM AKST Fri Jan 24 2025 Eastern Aleutians- Including the cities of Unalaska and Nikolski 331 PM AKST Fri Jan 24 2025 ...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 3 PM AKST SUNDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 22 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. Visibilities reduced to a half mile or less at times. * WHERE...Eastern Aleutians. * WHEN...From 9 PM this evening to 3 PM AKST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Moderate rain will transition to snow from west to east from late tonight into Saturday morning. Snow could be very wet and slushy close to sea level and potentially lead to reduced totals. The highest snowfall is expected at higher elevations in and around Unalaska. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weatherconditions will make travel very hazardous.
