Deputies Respond to Reports of Gun Fire Heard, Leading to the Arrest of a Pomona Man

INCIDENT: PC 245- Assault with Weapon
LOCATION: Mignonette Street / Berkshire Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Daveontay Wright, Age 19, Resident of Pomona
SUMMARY: On Friday, January 24, 2025, at approximately 10:18 p.m., Rancho Cucamonga deputies responded to a call for service reference shots heard near the intersection of Berkshire Avenue and Mignonette Street. Several reporting parties called in and stated they heard gun shots and observed juveniles running from the area.
Deputies arrived on scene and observed a large group of juveniles running from the area as well as a vehicle that sped off from the same area. Deputies followed the vehicle and observed a passenger throw a firearm out of the window. The firearm was recovered by deputies, the vehicle was stopped, and the driver and passengers were detained.
After further investigation it was determined that suspect Daveontay Wright fired multiple rounds into the air during an altercation while he was at a party with friends.
Wright was transported to the West Valley Detention Center and booked on charges PC 245(A)(2)- Assault with a Firearm and PC 246.3(A)- Willfully Discharge of Firearm with Gross Negligence.
