The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 2025:
9:37 AM Officer Stevenson initiated a pedestrian stop. A 43-year-old male was contacted in violation of his probation terms and was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:00 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle theft reported near Civic Terrace Ave & Cedar Blvd. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.
11:29 AM Officer Stevenson recovered a stolen vehicle and personal belongings near Balentine Dr & Stevenson Blvd.
11:59 AM Officer Taylor investigated a license plate theft near Sycamore & Filbert Streets.
12:30 PM Officer Jackman investigated the circumstances of an arson near Newark & Cedar Boulevards.
3:52 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Vuong recovered a stolen license plate near Haley St & Jarvis Ave.
10:00 PM Officer Williams conducted a pedestrian stop near Enterprise Dr & Willow St. A 40-year-old male was arrested for violation of probation, possession of narcotics, and disobeying a court order. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 21, 2025:
3:05 AM Officer Williams initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle weaving through traffic on I-880. The investigation was taken over by California Highway Patrol (CHP).
7:07 PM Officer Williams investigated the theft of a backpack and wallet from a locker on Newpark Mall Road.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2025:
5:53 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft reported on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.
10:29 AM Officer Berlanga was on routine patrol and initiated a traffic stop near Sycamore St & Carter Ave. A 23-year-old male was cited and released on scene for an outstanding warrant.
11:27 AM Officer Lara responded to the report of a robbery on Newark & Cedar Blvds. A vehicle involved in the incident was recovered by a neighboring agency, and a 27-year-old male was arrested in connection to the robbery. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:23 PM CSO Lau investigated a commercial burglary near Overlake Pl & Jarvis Ave.
3:16 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle theft reported near Thornton Ave & Ruschin Dr.
6:19 PM Officer Shaffer arrested 21-year-old male in the Newark Police Lobby for outstanding warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for the warrants.
6:42 PM Officers arrested a 23-year-old male in connection with a sexual assault incident. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:36 PM Officer Williams responded to a restraining order violation near Wells Ave & Oak St. A 43-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of narcotics and an outstanding warrant.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 23, 2025:
9:39 AM Officer Lor initiated a traffic stop near Moores Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 39-year-old male was cited for driving without a license and false registration.
10:56 AM Officer Berlanga investigated a retail theft by credit card fraud at Newpark Mall Road.
3:07 PM Officer Lor responded to a report of retail theft near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
7:10 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle theft near Hickory St & Seawind Way.
8:32 PM Officer Orozco responded to a domestic violence incident near Civic Terrace Ave & Newark Blvd.
9:09 PM CSO Mora was dispatched to a bicycle theft reported near Sycamore St & Graham Ave.
9:25 PM Officer Kim investigated the theft of a laptop bag reported near Edgewater & Severn Drives.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 24, 2025:
7:59 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft reported near Newark Blvd & Mayhews Landing Rd.
8:58 AM Officer Leath recovered a stolen vehicle in the area of Sycamore & Filbert Streets. During the investigation, it was determined additional vehicle accessories and paperwork were taken.
10:25 AM Officer Leath investigated a vehicle theft reported near Newark Blvd & Mayhews Landing Rd. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.
8:13 PM CSO Mora was dispatched to a vehicle burglary in the area of Newark Blvd & Mayhews Landing Rd. The vehicle’s lock was forced open. A pair of glasses and miscellaneous items were reported taken.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 25, 2025:
2:00 AM Officer C. Torres initiated a traffic stop on Thornton Ave & I-880 on a vehicle for unsafe lane changes. A 42-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:55 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to an attempted vehicle theft reported near Parada St & Stevenson Blvd. Upon investigation, the ignition wires were tampered with.
10:42 AM Officer Taylor responded to the report of a battery near Sycamore St & Thornton Ave. A 32-year-old male was arrested for battery, resisting arrest, and violation of probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
1:25 PM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle theft on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.
1:54 PM Officer Lomeli investigated a vehicle theft near Buena Vista Dr & Parada St, and later investigated a license plate theft near Cedar Blvd & Moores Ave.
2:58 PM CSO Mora transported a 30-year-old male with an outstanding warrant to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
1:40 PM Officer Jackman responded to a vehicle theft reported near Parada St & Portrero Dr.
4:07 PM Officers were dispatched to a retail theft near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
4:16 PM Officer Stevenson responded to an altercation near Hayley St & Mayhews Landing Rd. A 25-year-old male was arrested for unlawful usage of pepper spray, aggravated assault, battery, and domestic violence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:50 PM Officer Losier initiated a traffic stop near Cherry St. and Baine Ave. A 36-year-old male was cited for driving with expired registration.
SUNDAY, JANUARY 26, 2025:
9:20 AM Officer Berlanga investigated a vehicle theft near Cherry St & Smith Ave.
12:45 PM Officer Taylor responded to a retail theft on Newpark Mall Road.
1:44 PM Officer Jackman was dispatched to a license plate theft near Haley St & Cabernet Ave.
2:17 PM Officer Taylor investigated the theft of a backpack near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave, and later responded to a vehicle theft reported near Enterprise Dr & Hickory St.
4:15 PM Officer Lomeli was dispatched to a vehicle theft on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle was later recovered by another agency.
