Police Arrest Newark Man Wanted for Burglaries into Autos and Criminal Mischief
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. reports the arrest of Fernando Pinero, 55, of Newark, who was wanted in connection with two auto burglaries and an incident of criminal mischief that occurred between Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and Friday, January 17, 2025.
The first incident occurred at Magazine Street near Ferry Street. At approximately 1:50 p.m., on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the suspect entered a black 2018 Dodge Grand by shattering the vehicle’s rear window. The victim reported that four hand grinder machines were missing from inside the vehicle.
The second incident occurred between 4 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, and noon, on Friday, January 17, 2025. The victim reported that the driver’s side window of a 2017 Chevy Express Van, parked in the 100 block of Van Buren Street, was shattered and several plumbing tools were missing.
The third incident occurred on Madison Street near Ferry Street. The victim returned to his vehicle, a 2015 GMC Savana that had been parked overnight, at approximately 7 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, his rear and passenger windows were both shattered, but no items have been reported missing.
Detectives investigating these incidents obtained a warrant for the arrest of Fernando Pinero, who was identified as a suspect. Pinero was arrested at Magazine Street and Rome Street on Friday, January 24, 2025. He faces multiple charges of burglary, theft, and criminal mischief.
