Update #1 (Investigation – 10th and Kirkwood Streets):
This incident is under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division, the Office of Professional Standards and the Delaware Department of Justice. In accordance with departmental policy, the police officer involved in this incident has been placed on administrative leave as the investigation continues.
This is an ongoing investigation and further information will be released when possible.
Original release (January 28):
Wilmington Police are on scene investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred in the area of 10th and Kirkwood Streets.
At approximately 1 p.m., members of the Wilmington Police Department’s Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were in the area of 10th and Kirkwood Streets conducting a drug investigation. Officers identified a suspect, a 32-year-old male, and attempted to conduct a stop. The suspect fled in his vehicle, at one point driving on the sidewalk, and a police officer discharged their department-issued firearm, striking the suspect once.
Officers immediately began to render aid prior to the arrival of paramedics. The suspect was transported to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. Criminal charges are pending further investigation.
The police officer was not injured.
Update #1 (Investigation – 10th and Kirkwood Streets): 
The suspect in this incident has been identified as 32-year-old Calvin Warren.
Warren was found to be in possession of 3.2 grams of cocaine, and the vehicle he was operating during this incident was found to have been reported stolen out of Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania. During the incident, Warren drove the stolen vehicle onto a sidewalk, striking another vehicle and driving in the direction of two members of the public.
Warren has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony – Two Counts
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree) – Two Counts
- Receiving Stolen Property Over $1,500
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
