INCIDENT: H & S 11395(B)(1)- Possession of a Controlled Substance with Two Prior Convictions
LOCATION: 14100 block of Liberty Way, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): Jared Yepez, 38-year-old Resident of Hesperia
Christina Blanca Sanchez, 41-year-old Resident of Victorville
SUMMARY: On November 5, 2024, California voters passed Proposition 36 titled “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act.” The proposition took effect on December 18, 2024, and reforms multiple laws from Proposition 47, which have been responsible for increasing homelessness, drug addiction and theft. Proposition 36 includes several new Penal and Health and Safety Codes that deputies will be able to apply during arrests when appropriate. These new charges can carry enhanced sentencing, as well as prevent offenders from being cite released prior to their court appearance. The following is an arrest where Proposition 36 is applied:
On Saturday, January 25, 2025, at approximately 9:40 a.m. Deputy K. Raglin responded to the 14100 block of Liberty Way for a theft that occurred a day prior.
During the investigation, deputies located the suspect vehicle in Hesperia. A vehicle stop was conducted and deputies located suspected methamphetamine in the possession of the driver, later identified as Jared Yepez. The passenger, Christina Blanca Sanchez, was found to have several misdemeanor warrants
Jared Yepez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto, for H & S 11395(B)(1)- Possession of a Controlled Substance with Two Prior Convictions. Christina Blanca Sanchez was arrested for the outstanding warrants.
