When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Robberies
There were three robberies during the past week.
On Monday, 01-20-25, at approximately 7:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of East Market Street and Hillside Boulevard on a report of a robbery. The victim was robbed at the Spray Clean Car Wash on Hillside Boulevard. The victim stated that she was parked at the northeast corner of the parking lot next to the vacuum stall. While she was cleaning her car, the suspect approached her and demanded money. When the victim refused, the suspect grabbed her by the hair, dragged her to the ground, and struck her multiple times. The suspect then took the victim’s iPhone 15, valued at approximately $1,400. The suspect was described as a male, possibly Hispanic, with a medium build, approximately 6’0” tall. The suspect was wearing gray pants, a black sweatshirt, white shoes, a white face mask, and a black hat. This investigation is ongoing.
On Friday, 01-24-25, at approximately 12:24 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 7-Eleven gas station on the 2700 block of Bayshore Boulevard on a report of a robbery. The victim stated that he had just arrived at work and was walking toward the store when a vehicle pulled alongside him, and three suspects exited. One of the suspects asked the victim to open the door, lifted his shirt to reveal the grip of a handgun, and threatened to shoot the victim. This suspect then grabbed the keys from the victim while another suspect struck the victim on the head. The victim was dragged approximately 20 feet and told to keep his hands on the ground while looking down. The suspects stole approximately 2,100 boxes of cigarettes and a cash register containing an unknown amount of cash. The suspects fled in a white Acura TLX with heavy window tint, a black spoiler, black side-view mirrors, and black rims. The suspect who displayed the handgun was described as a Black male adult with a skinny build, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, a black balaclava, and gloves. The suspect who struck the victim on the head was described as a Black male adult with a heavy build, approximately 5’10” tall, wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, a black balaclava, and gloves. The third suspect was described as a Black male adult with a skinny build, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt, black pants, a black balaclava, and gloves.
On Sunday, 01-26-25, at approximately 9:50 p.m., at the southwest corner of Edgeworth Avenue and 91st Street, a victim was robbed by two unknown suspects. The victim stated that as he was walking, he was suddenly approached by two male suspects. One suspect went behind the victim, placed a thin rope around his neck, and began to tighten it. The second suspect stood in front of the victim and pressed what the victim believed was a knife against his abdomen. The victim attempted to escape but was punched multiple times in the face by the second suspect. The second suspect then took the victim’s iPhone, valued at approximately $1,000, and a wallet containing $500, credit and debit cards, an ID card, and a driver’s license. San Mateo County Alert System (SMC)
Have you signed up to receive these alerts? This alert is a free digital communication system used by emergency management agencies and first responders to send emergency alerts, notifications, and updates to portable digital devices. In an emergency situation, an alert will be sent by San Mateo County authorized personnel, and you will receive messages on your cell phone or mobile device. Nextdoor.com
Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try! www.nextdoor.com
