The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 15^th to December 21^st

December 15^th 
Vandalism / Theft - 6009 Potrero Ave. (Hotel Mira Vista):
At 5:29 AM, an officer reports the suspect and victim were in a verbal argument. During the argument, the suspect shattered the screen of the victim’s electronics and stole their wallet. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Battery – 2000 block of Harper St.
At 8:33 AM, an officer reports housemates argued and fought. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.

Shoplift / Probation Violation / Drug Paraphernalia / Arrest Warrants – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 9:45 AM, an officer reports the arrest of a suspect for stealing merchandise. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. During the investigation, officers found the suspect was on probation with three warrants for their arrest. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism / Trespass - 1300 Block of Liberty St.
At 6:58 PM, an officer reports a suspect broke the lock off the victim’s detached storage shed and appeared to have slept inside. The suspect was not on scene during officers arrival.

Theft - 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24 Hour Fitness):
At 7:12 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s property from an unsecured locker.

Indecent Exposure - 11785 San Pablo Ave. (Launderland):
At 9:23 PM, officers responded to the business after witnesses called and advised a subject was inside the business inappropriately touching themselves. Upon officers arrival, the suspect was found inside the business still inappropriately touching themseleves. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office.

Warrant Arrest - San Pablo Ave. / Knott Ave.
At 9:39 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver held an outstanding warrant. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 

December 16^th
Auto Burglary – 600 block of Lexington Ave.
At 8:45 AM, the victim reports between 12/14/2024 -12/16/204, a suspect shattered a window to the victim’s vehicle and stole miscellaneous items.

Residential Burglary – 5800 block of Avila St.
At 11:33 AM, an officer reports a suspect shattered a window to the victim’s residence, entered, and stole property. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
At 3:43 PM, officers located a subject found unresponsive in their vehicle while blocking traffic on San Pablo Ave. When officers and medical made entry into the vehicle, the subject showed signs of consuming a controlled substance.  The subject admitted to being under the influence of narcotics and was transported to the hospital with a citation. 

December 17^th
Shoplifting / Warrant / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Controlled Substances – 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross):
At 8:44 AM, officers report a suspect stole merchandise from the store and fled. Officers detained the suspect a few blocks away and was positively identified. During a search incident to arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and controlled substances. Further investigation found the suspect also had a warrant for their arrest. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.

Attempted Stolen Vehicle – Potrero Ave. / S. 56^th.
At 3:08 PM, the victim reported a suspect damaged their ignition in an attempt to steal their vehicle. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 6400 block of Hagen Blvd.
At 4:02 PM, an officer located a parked unoccupied stolen vehicle out of Oakland PD.  The vehicle was released to the owner on scene.

Shoplifting – 5805 Cutting Blvd. (Skechers):
At 6:36 PM, officers responded to a shoplifting at the business. Officers located and arrested the suspect a few blocks away.  The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.

December 18^th
Fraudulent Prescription – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 9:40 AM, an employee reports that the suspect sent a fraudulent prescription order to the pharmacy.  

Carjacking – 400 block of Kearney St.
At 3:48 PM, the victim reports that while they were in their vehicle, the suspect opened the door, threw them out and stole their vehicle. Another suspect then stole the victim’s purse before fleeing the scene.

Criminal Threats / Auto Burglary – 10800 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 11:28 PM, the victim’s ex-significant other threatened and stole items from their vehicle.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

December 19^th
Fraud – 200 Block of Colusa Ave.
At 6:06 PM, the victim sent the suspect money for an online purchase and never received the item.

December 20^th
Robbery – 11600 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 10:28 AM, an officer took a telephone report from the victim who said an acquaintance robbed them of a jacket shortly after midnight on 12/06/2024.

Shoplifting / Felony Theft Repeat Offender / Battery / Probation Violation – 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 1:55 PM, an officer arrested a suspect for shoplifting and for spitting on the security guard as they left the store.  Further investigation found the suspect was also on probation. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle Theft – 500 block of Bonnie Dr.
At 1:38 PM, an officer reports the theft of a vehicle that occurred on 12/18/2024.

Package Theft – 1100 Block of Lawrence Ct.
At 7:28 PM, an officer located and arrested a suspect for stealing packages from the porch of a residence.  The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vandalism – 8700 block of Don Carol Dr.
At 8:36PM, an officer reports suspect(s) egged the victim’s house.

December 21^st
Counterfeit Money – 10057 San Pablo Ave. (Pastime Ace Hardware):
At 11:30 AM, an officer reports a suspect used counterfeit bills to purchase merchandise.

Burglary – 1800 block of Key Blvd.
At 11:55 AM, an officer reports a suspect broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole items.

Lost or Stolen License Plates – 8000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 4:19 PM, an officer reports theft of license plates.

Burglary – 10422 San Pablo Ave. (B of A):
At 4:44 PM, an officer reports a suspect shattered the passenger window of the victim’s vehicle and stole the victim’s purse off the front seat.
