Suspect arrested for sexual assault involving a BHS student in Civic Center Park 
Today, around noon, Berkeley Police Officers arrested a 41-year-old male suspect for sexually battering a female Berkeley High School student yesterday in Civic Center Park. The victim had been walking on the sidewalk when she was confronted by the suspect who inappropriately touched her.
Our department quickly began an investigation, offered victim support, and connected the victim with available resources. Through collaboration with BHS and our School Resource Officer along with multiple units in our department, the suspect was identified and arrested today by our Detectives and Bike Patrol Detail without incident.
Crimes like this affect not only the victim but also other students and the community as a whole. We appreciate the swift actions of our officers in this case.
