AVOID HAYES ROAD FROM 25-26 MILE FOR CLEAN UP OF SEWER BREAK - SEWER IS FIXED AND WATER CONSERVATION HAS BEEN LIFTED
I am pleased to inform you that the sewer main break along Hayes Road between 25 and 26 Mile Road has been fully repaired, and water conservation measures are no longer necessary.
A 20-inch ductile iron pipe with concrete coverage had developed a crack due to its age (over 45 years old) and extreme cold temperatures. Crews worked tirelessly around the clock to maintain low sewer levels and install a bypass system, allowing for the seamless replacement of the damaged pipe.
The new pipe has been successfully installed, and the system is fully operational.
PLEASE NOTE: Hayes Road remains CLOSED between 25 Mile and 26 Mile until final road is cleaned. Please use alternate routes.
Additionally, water sample testing has been conducted to ensure that no sewage entered the Clinton River. Results confirm that the situation has been fully contained. All county, state, and local agencies, including the Health Department and EGLE, have been actively involved and monitoring the process.
We sincerely appreciate the cooperation and patience of our residents and businesses throughout this situation. Your efforts in conserving water helped facilitate a faster resolution.
Important Notes:
✅ Septic homes were never affected.
✅ Drinking water remains safe and was never compromised.
