We have received reports of counterfeit $100 bills being passed in the area. Local businesses, please be vigilant when accepting cash payments! Here are some key security features to check on a REAL $100 bill:
🔹Color-Shifting Ink - Tilt the bill and the "100" in the lower-right corner should shift from copper to green.
🔹Security Thread - Hold the bill up to the light; a security thread should run vertically to the left of Benjamin Franklin's portrait, glowing pink under UV light.
🔹3D Security Ribbon - Tilt the bill and check for the blue security ribbon in the center. The images of bells and 100s should appear to move.
🔹Watermark - Hold the bill up to the light and look for a faint image of Franklin's portrait on the right side.
🔹Raised Printing - Run your fingers over Franklin's shoulder; you should feel slightly raised printing.
If you suspect a counterfeit bill:
đźš“Do not return it to the customer.
đźš“Note their description and any vehicle information.
đźš“Call the police immediately at (276)-783-8145, especially if the suspect is still on scene.
