* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.
* WHERE...A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, City of Bristol, City of Norton, Lee, Russell, Scott, Washington and Wise.
* WHEN...Until 715 PM EST.
* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. River or stream flows are elevated.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 416 PM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Bristol Va, Abingdon, Norton, Lebanon, Wise, Big Stone Gap, Cleveland Va, Coeburn, Appalachia, Glade Spring, Honaker, Pound, St. Paul, Damascus, Nickelsville, Dungannon, Castlewood, Hansonville, Collingwood and Holston. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
