Narrative:

On Sunday January 26th, 2025, a theft from a vehicle occurred on the 13000 block of Vista Levana Drive where the victim’s vehicle’s key fob was stolen.  On January 30th, 2025, the victim’s vehicle was stolen and recovered in the same neighborhood. Moorpark Patrol deputies obtained surveillance footage of the theft that had previously occurred on Sunday and had suspect information. While conducting follow-up reference the stolen vehicle, Moorpark Patrol deputies located the suspect vehicle in the area Spring Road and Los Angeles Avenue.  A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect vehicle led patrol deputies on a brief pursuit, which was terminated after deputies lost sight of the vehicle.  During the pursuit, the suspect collided with two uninvolved vehicles and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was later located in the area 6800 Simmons Way in Moorpark.  The suspect was on foot and immediately fled when he saw deputies in the area.  The suspect was not immediately located.

Detectives later located a loaded unregistered handgun in the area the suspect was last seen running from.  An extensive search of the area was conducted including resources from the Sheriff’s K9 Unit and Ventura County Aviation Unit.

An alert citizen later contacted Sheriff’s Dispatch after seeing a suspicious subject in the area of Elk Run Loop and Spring Road.  Moorpark Patrol deputies arrived and confirmed the suspicious subject was the suspect from the earlier pursuit.
