Winter Weather Advisory & Severe Weather Shelter Open Tonight
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Bainbridge Island and surrounding areas from 5 PM tonight until 10 AM tomorrow. Please drive cautiously and avoid unnecessary travel during this time.
Additionally, due to freezing temperatures, the Severe Weather Shelter will be open tonight, Monday, February 3rd.
The shelter is located at the Senior Community Center, 370 Brien Ave. SE. Shelter residents must check in between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
If anyone needs assistance after hours, they must call 911 and have a police/fire escort to check into an activated shelter.
The City Emergency Manager is monitoring the forecast and planning to support additional nights at the Severe Weather Shelter. Once volunteer spots are filled, an additional Nixle alert will go out notifying the community about the Severe Weather Shelter openings.
