The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, JANUARY 27, 2025:
1:52 AM Officer Soto responded to a report of a stolen vehicle near Cedar & Lake Boulevards.
2:10 AM Officers recovered a stolen vehicle parked near Cherry St & Smith Ave.
4:55 AM Officers responded to an attempted carjacking near Cedar Blvd & Forbes Dr.
5:27 AM Officers were alerted to a commercial burglary in progress on Newpark Mall Road, where entry was gained by shattering a door. A stolen vehicle was recovered on the scene.
10:01 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Cedar Blvd. The passenger door handle was pried open. No loss was reported.
11:49 AM Officer Stevenson responded to the report of a stolen vehicle near Cedar & Stevenson Boulevards. The driver, a 29-year-old male was apprehended by a neighboring agency. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of a stolen vehicle, engaging in a reckless manner, and evading apprehension.
4:41 PM Officer Taylor investigated a commercial burglary at Sycamore St & Central Ave. Tools were reported taken along with gasoline from vehicles.
6:50 PM Officer Williams responded to the area of Birch St & Jacaranda Dr and arrested a 59-year-old male for domestic violence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
TUESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2025:
6:45 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a theft of a vehicle’s wheels reported near Willow St & Seawind Way. The vehicle was observed resting on cement blocks.
3:19 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a license plate theft near Wells Ave & Elm St.
4:57 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Clark Ave. No loss was reported.
5:10 PM Officer Kim investigated a license plate theft near Cherry St & Graham Ave.
5:15 PM Officer C. Torres responded to a package theft reported near Seawind Way & Hickory St.
7:33 PM Officer Cervantes responded to a theft from a vehicle reported near Cedar Blvd & Haley St. A set of tools and Fastrak transponder were taken from an unlocked vehicle.
10:34 PM Officer Norvell investigated a license plate theft near Newark Blvd & Central Ave.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 29, 2025:
1:51 AM Officer Dale responded to a disturbance near Filbert St & Enterprise Dr. A traffic stop was initiated, and a 22-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
4:34 AM Officer Williams responded to a disturbance reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry School Rd. A 53-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
7:02 AM Officer Lor responded to an attempted vehicle theft reported near Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd. The door handle was removed, and the ignition was tampered with.
1:01 PM Officers investigated multiple license plate thefts reported from the areas of Cedar Blvd, Dupont Ave, and Lido Boulevard.
4:45 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a domestic violence incident on Smith Ave & Birch St. A 52-year-old female was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:38 PM Officer Williams arrested a 40-year-old male near Filbert St & Enterprise Dr for tampering with utilities and violating probation terms. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, JANUARY 30, 2025:
5:31 AM Officers investigated several vehicle burglaries near Willow St & Enterprise Dr. Reported losses included vehicle documents, personal accessories, and remote door openers.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 2025:
12:57 AM Officer C. Torres initiated a pedestrian stop near Willow St & Thornton Ave. A 51-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:20 AM Officer Leath responded to a vehicle burglary near Sycamore & Filbert Streets. Reported losses included personal items and electronics.
9:54 AM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to a theft reported near Central Ave & Filbert St. Gasoline was reported taken from several vehicles.
10:34 PM Officer Leath recovered a stolen vehicle near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave.
12:39 PM Officer Lor investigated a commercial burglary near Olive & Sycamore Streets. Loss of electronics were reported.
2:44 PM Officer Leath responded to Jarvis Ave & Dumbarton Ct for an attempted residential burglary. The power to the home was forced off.
3:00 PM Officer Berlanga was dispatched to a license plate theft from Clark Ave.
4:44 PM Officer Lara responded to the report of a trespasser near Newark Blvd & Thornton Ave. Entry into the residence was gained from an unlocked backyard door.
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2025:
8:01 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a commercial burglary reported near Newark & Cedar Blvd. A safe was taken from the location and was later recovered.
3:20 PM Officer Jackman responded to a package and license plate theft near Thornton Ave & Willow St.
6:46 PM Officers responded to multiple reports if stolen vehicles in the areas of Thornton Ave, Cedar Blvd, and Newpark Mall Road.
10:20 PM Officer Orozco initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle without license plates near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave. The plate was determined to be stolen a few hours prior.
11:00 PM Officer Medina responded to the report of a vehicle burglary near Dumbarton Ct & Jarvis Ave. No loss was reported.
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2025:
12:23 AM Officers responded to a vehicle collision on Mayhews Landing Rd. A 17-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence.
11:09 AM Officer Lomeli conducted a check on a suspicious vehicle reported near Willow St & Enterprise Dr. It was determined to be stolen and was recovered.
7:09 PM CSO Vuong recovered a stolen license plate from the area of Joaquin Murieta Ave & Cedar Blvd.
7:17 PM Officer Medina responded to a traffic collision near Central Ave & Cherry St. A 60-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:34 PM Officers were dispatched to an attempted vehicle burglary near Port Sailwood Dr & Cedar Blvd. A 23-year-old male was located and arrested for possession of narcotics, violating a court order, and possession of a weapon. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
