Fairfield Police Issue Update Regarding January 18, 2025, Suspicious Death Investigation 
Fairfield Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 38-year-old man who was found with a fatal gunshot wound on El Rancho Way in the early morning hours of Saturday, January 18, 2025.
Preliminary findings indicate the incident may have been an accidental shooting, with evidence suggesting the victim unintentionally discharged a firearm, resulting in a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives, however, have not ruled out the possibility of homicide, pending a thorough analysis of forensic evidence.
Law enforcement officials are working closely with forensic experts to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting as the investigation remains ongoing.
The man is identified as 38-year-old Joshua Costan, a Fairfield resident.
