Traffic Stop Turns Into Barricaded Subject 
On 02-06-25 at 5:22 p.m. Janesville Police Department Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on S. Pearl St., just north of Rockport Rd. to arrest one of the 3 occupants, Gary Sandvick, for Failure To Report To Jail. After the other 2 occupants exited the vehicle, Gary refused to exit. Gary said he had a gun and officers were going to have to shoot him. Several other officers responded and the road was shut down.
Officers were able to speak with Gary by phone, but he still refused to exit and maintained he had a gun and officers were going to have to shoot him. Officers deployed several chemical munitions into the vehicle which caused Gary to exit the vehicle. After Gary exited, he continued to refuse commands so further less lethal munitions were deployed and K9 Viktos was utilized to assist in taking Gary into custody.
Gary will be held at the Rock County Jail for charges from this incident and pending drug charges from previous incidents.
