TRAFFIC ADVISORY - This Weekend’s Wintry Mix May Cause Flooding

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr. reports that this weekend’s anticipated wintry mix may produce flooding in certain areas. Drivers are advised to refrain from driving on flooded streets.
A 30 percent chance of snow is expected to begin after 1 p.m. Snow is also expected before 1 a.m., followed by snow and sleet, possibly mixed with freezing rain between. Snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches are possible.
Snow and sleet, possibly mixed with rain is expected on Sunday, before 10 a.m., with a slight chance of rain and snow between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Residents are asked to observe the city’s “No Parking on Snow Covered Roads” regulations due to the expected snowfall. Signs have been posted on streets throughout the City of Newark. Motorists are urged to look for the sign pictured below to identify the streets designated for no parking.
The Department of Public Safety is coordinating responses to burglar alarms, flooding conditions, and other weather-related incidents through the combined use of Police, Fire, and Office of Emergency Management personnel. Special attention should be given to unsecured outdoor furniture, awnings, refuse, and building materials.
