Kline Street shooting update
The investigation into the shooting that occurred yesterday February 6th on Kline Street is continuing. The three juvenile suspects appeared this morning in Montgomery County Youth Part Court where they continue to be remanded without bail to the custody of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. They are currently held on the charges of:
Suspect 1: 17 years of age Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.
Suspect 2: 17 years of age Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.
Suspect 3: 16 years of age Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th
Responding officers were able to follow the path taken by the suspects as they fled the scene of the shooting and in doing so were able to recover two handguns that were used in this incident. They were collected as evidence and were submitted for forensic analysis.
Interviews of all persons involved and those with knowledge of this incident are continuing and have taken investigators beyond the City of Amsterdam due to some parties to this case not being residents of the City of Amsterdam.
The victim has been transferred to Albany Medical Center where his condition remains serious.
The Amsterdam Police Department would like to thank our partner agencies in this investigation the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police who immediately saturated the area with members of the APD patrol division and with the help of information provided by the public the three suspects were quickly captured along with the weapons used in this crime.
The investigation is continuing and further charges may be filed at a later date.
