Pocatello D.A.R.E., Inc. Programs
Pocatello D.A.R.E., Inc. offers educational programs for students throughout Pocatello. Our elementary school lessons are taught to 5th-grade students within School District 25, as well as the private and charter schools in the area. Pocatello Police Officers engage with approximately 800-900 students each school year.
The D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program is designed to help 5th graders make informed decisions about avoiding drugs, alcohol, and violence. It also promotes healthy lifestyle choices. In these lessons, students learn about the risks of substance abuse and strategies for resisting peer pressure. Through activities such as role-playing, interactive discussions, and real-world scenarios, students practice decision-making, assertiveness, and problem-solving skills. The goal is for students to leave the program feeling more confident in their ability to make responsible, safe choices.

Expanding Leadership Opportunities
The same officers who teach D.A.R.E. have expanded upon these principles by offering summer programs for middle school and high school students. The Pocatello Police Department’s Academy and Leadership Program are designed to foster leadership, perseverance, and community commitment. Through hands-on workshops, team-building exercises, and real-world challenges, students develop problem-solving skills and learn how to inspire others. The programs focus on cultivating a growth mindset, encouraging youth to overcome adversity and remain resilient. Students also gain an understanding of how leadership can positively impact their communities. By the end of these programs, participants are equipped with the tools to lead and a deep sense of responsibility to their community.
