Letter from Mendham Borough Council

Dear Mendham Borough Residents,

It is with a deep sense of respect and gratitude that we acknowledge the resignation of Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner. Throughout her tenure, Mayor Glassner served our community with dedication and commitment, striving to enhance the quality of life for all residents. We thank her for her leadership and wish her well in her future endeavors.

In accordance with the New Jersey State Administrative Code and the Mendham Borough Code, Council President Sullivan will immediately assume the administrative duties of the Mayor. The Borough Council will commence the legal process of filing the Mayor’s vacancy. This process ensures that democratic principles are upheld, and that the governance of our Borough remains stable and effective.

We want to assure you that Mendham Borough continues to operate efficiently and without disruption. All personnel remain in place, working diligently to maintain the services and operations that our residents rely upon. In addition to ensuring the seamless delivery of daily services, the Council remains focused on several key priorities, including:

  1. Affordable Housing Planning: We are committed to adhering to the state-mandated deadlines for the 4th Round of affordable housing planning, ensuring that Mendham Borough meets its state mandated obligations while preserving the character of our community. As seen by resolution 133-2024, the council voted in September 2024 to join a litigation focused on ensuring a more fair process to allocating housing units across all towns in New Jersey.
  2. Public Safety: We are collaborating with Public Safety Director Craig and Officer-in-Charge McNichol on long-term strategic planning for our police department to ensure the continued safety and well-being of our residents.
  3. Parks and Recreation Enhancements: Efforts are underway to expand and improve our Parks and Recreation programs, fostering opportunities for residents of all ages to enjoy the Borough’s natural beauty and community events.
Transparency and open communication are the cornerstones of our governance. We are committed to keeping you informed throughout this transition period and beyond. We encourage residents with questions or concerns about the process to attend the upcoming Council meeting on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:00 PM at the Garabrant Center or any future meeting. As a reminder our meetings are twice per month and posted on the following site https://www.mendhamnj.org/cn/TownCouncil/. All residents are welcome at every meeting.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Together, we will navigate this transition and continue to build a strong and vibrant future for Mendham Borough.

Sincerely,

The Borough of Mendham Council
