Suspect Arrested Following Assault and Barricade Incident

On Sunday, February 9, 2025, at approximately 10:46 PM, patrol officers responded to the 1700 block of S. Depot Street regarding a reported assault and family dispute.
Upon arrival, officers determined that the suspect, 22-year-old Santa Maria resident Alexis Perez-Alcantar, reportedly committed a felony assault against a family member, attempted to assault multiple subjects with a knife, caused significant property damage resulting in a felony vandalism charge, and brandished a firearm prior to leaving the scene.
Despite an extensive search, officers were unable to locate Perez-Alcantar. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest on multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, felony assault, and felony vandalism.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, at approximately 1:30 PM, patrol officers received information that Perez-Alcantar was at a residence in the 700 block of E. El Camino Street. Patrol officers responded, secured the location, and began calling occupants out of the residence. To assist in the operation, patrol officers utilized SMPD drones, SMPD & CHP K9 units, SMPD crisis negotiators, and a CHP helicopter.
All residents and family members at the location safely exited the home; however, Perez-Alcantar barricaded himself inside the garage. Officers engaged in approximately two and a half hours of communication and negotiation in an effort to de-escalate the situation.
Ultimately, Perez-Alcantar voluntarily exited the residence, complied with officers' commands, and was taken into custody without further incident.
He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail on his outstanding warrant and is being held on $1 million dollars bail.
