Newland Man Charged with Meth Possession
Detective Matt Smith with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 39-year-old Matthew Brent Taylor of Newland with felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was given a secured bond of $2,500.
On Wednesday, January 22, Detective Smith initiated a stop on a Subaru in West Marion for a traffic violation.
A free air sniff of the vehicle by K-9 Marsoc with Marion Police Department alerted positive for narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a suspected amount of meth. Taylor was placed in custody and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.
