Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday February 3 - Sunday February 9, 2025

The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2025: 

12:23 AM Officer Soto responded to a report of a vehicle collision on the 6000 block of Mayhews Landing Rd. An 18-year-old female from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence.  

12:46 AM Officer Orozco responded to the area of Thornton Ave and Gateway Blvd for a vehicle collision. An 18-year-old male from Oakland was arrested for driving under the influence. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

7:59 AM Officer Berlanga responded to Ash Street Park for a report of vandalism.

12:09 PM Officer Lomeli investigated the report of an ongoing domestic dispute.

3:38 PM Officer Jackman responded to the 39900 block of Balentine Drive for the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2025: 

1:27 PM Officer Pacheco responded to the 37600 block of Bay Breeze St for a report of a package theft.

3:38 PM Officer Kim recovered a stripped stolen vehicle out of Oakland on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Ave.

4:46 PM Officers responded to the report of a battery near the 38200 block of Birch Street.

6:04 PM Officer Cervantes responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave and Cedar Blvd. a 42-year-old woman was arrested for outstanding warrants.

7:23 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to the report of an unresponsive person in a vehicle on the 39700 block of Balentine Dr. A 36-year-old male from Fremont was arrested for public intoxication and was transported to SRJ.

 WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2025: 

1:04 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft of the 8400 block of Central Ave. The vehicle was later found stripped by a nearby agency.

8:02 AM Officer Kim investigated a grand theft from a business on the 8000 block of Enterprise Dr.

9:56 AM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a burglary of a storage unit on the 6600 block of Clark Ave. Reported loss included $12,000 worth of power tools.

11:55PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated the report of a stolen vehicle on the 6000 block of Mowry Ave.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2025: 

12:46 PM CSO Lau investigated a report of a stolen vehicle on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Ave. The vehicle was later located with the front license plate missing.

3:34 PM CSO Lau investigated a package theft that occurred on the 38900 block of Lemongrass Way.

5:51 PM CSO Lau investigated a package theft that occurred on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street.

7:32 PM Officer Stevenson responded to the 6300 block of Thomas Ave for a disturbance. A 71-year-old male from Newark was arrested for an outstanding warrant and possession of narcotics. He was booked into SRJ.

8:11PM Officer Kim investigated a grand theft that occurred on Newpark Mall Rd. Reported loss included jewelry, cash, and a cell phone.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2025: 

4:45 AM Officers responded to a traffic collision near Thornton Ave and Cherry St. Both drivers, a 25-year-old male from Fremont, and a 19-year-old male from Union City were arrested for driving under the influence. They were booked into SRJ.

11:00 AM Officer Leath investigated a report of a stolen trailer on the 39700 block of Spadefoot Ave.

1:41 PM Officer Lor conducted a traffic stop near the 6600 block of Central Ave. A 30-year-old female from Newark was arrested for driving under the influence. She was transported and booked into SRJ.

2:30 PM Officer Leath investigated a theft from an unlocked vehicle on the 37400 block of Willow Street. Loss included miscellaneous property.

3:36 PM Officer Jackman investigated a residential burglary on the 35700 block of Bettencourt St. Reported loss included cash and a bracelet.

9:34 PM CSO Mora investigated an attempted theft on the 39900 block of Cedar Blvd.
 
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2025: 

8:24 AM Officer Berlanga investigated a report of a stolen vehicle on the 37000 block of Olive Street.

10:37 AM Officer Lomeli responded to a window smash commercial burglary on the 36700 block of Cedar Blvd.

10:46 AM Officer Kapu conducted a traffic stop near Newark Blvd and Brittany Ave. A 31-year-old female from Hayward was cited for outstanding warrants and driving under the influence.

11:38 AM Officer Stevenson responded to an attempted vehicle theft on Newpark Mall Rd. The door locks and ignition were tampered with. There was no reported loss.

12:18 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a report of a stolen license plate on Newpark Mall Rd.

4:30PM Officer Jackman responded to a disturbance on the 5900 block of Mowry Ave.

6:27 PM CSO Vuong investigated a report of a motorcycle stolen from a residence on the 36400 block of Peugeot Pl.

9:51 PM Officer Swadener responded to a disturbance on Lido Ct. A 44-year-old male was arrested for spousal battery.

10:53 PM Officer Medina responded to a retail theft reported on the 5800 block of Jarvis Ave. Loss included miscellaneous merchandise.

11:48 PM Officer Orozco conducted a traffic stop near Mowry Ave. and Alpine St. A 26-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license, and DUI.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2025: 

9:04 AM Officer Stevenson responded to a window smash vehicle burglary on the 8100 block of Merion Dr. Reported loss included tools.

11:15 AM Officer Jackman investigated a license plate theft near the 37100 block of Sycamore St.

5:42 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a disturbance on the 39000 block of Cedar Blvd. A 42-year-old female from Newark was arrested for possession of narcotics and resisting arrest.

9:55 PM Officer Losier responded to a disturbance on the 6000 block of Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 36-year-old male from Newark was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threats. He was booked into SRJ.
