These new charges can carry enhanced sentencing, as well as prevent offenders from being cite released prior to their court appearance. The following is an arrest where Proposition 36 is applied:
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, deputies were dispatched to a welfare check at a residence in the 20400 block of Majestic Drive when neighbors reported a male subject in the front yard screaming for help.

Deputies entered the residence to conduct a check for possible burglars. Deputies contacted subjects inside the residence, and it was determined they lived at the residence. One subject, Richard Allen Eadie, was found to have an outstanding parole warrant and was detained. As deputies continued to check the residence, illegal narcotics were observed.
Deputy Trousas obtained a search warrant for the residence and recovered the illegal narcotics and narcotics paraphernalia. Richard Allen Eadie was arrested for possession of a controlled substance with prior convictions and was booked into High Desert Detention Center.
