El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from December 22nd – December 28th 
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from December 22nd to December 28th
December 22nd
Trespass – 900 block of Galvin Dr.
At 9:48 PM, officers conducted a security check of a vacant property. Officers found an open window to the property and located a suspect who was inside. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Burglary – 300 El Cerrito Plaza (Joann Fabrics):
At 8:32 PM, officers responded to an alarm and discovered the front door of the business was unsecured with no signs of forced entry. Officers conducted a search of the business and located two juveniles carrying merchandise. The juveniles were detained and released to their parents.
December 23rd
Burglary – 11720 San Pablo Ave Ste. A (West Coast Dental):
At 8:03 AM, an officer reports suspects shattered a sidelight window to gain entry to the business sometime overnight. The suspects fled the scene with unknown items.
Attempted Vehicle Theft – 11720 San Pablo Ave.
At 8:24 AM, while assisting on the above burglary, an officer reports a suspect shattered the left rear window of a vehicle to gain entry and attempted to steal the vehicle.
Warrant Arrest / Burglary Tools / Unlicensed Driver / Drug Paraphernalia – Potrero Ave. / Eastshore Blvd.
At 8:31 AM, an officer responded to a traffic collision. During the investigation, officers found the suspect was unlicensed, on probation, and had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. During a probation search of the vehicle, officers also located burglary tools and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility with the new charges.
Fraudulent Use of Access Card – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza / 9950 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:02 AM, a victim reported the suspect stole and used one of the victim’s access cards at 1:14 PM on 12/04/2024.
Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave.
At 9:53 PM, officers reported two suspects had broken into five vehicles in the parking lot and stole miscellaneous items. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
December 24th
Stolen Vehicle / Identity Theft – 10900 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 5:43 AM, a victim reports that their vehicle was stolen, along with their wallet that was inside the vehicle.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Carlson Blvd.
At 12:34 PM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver had an outstanding juvenile warrant. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to Juvenile Hall.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle / Burglary Tools – Potrero Ave. / S. 56th St.
At 7:21 PM, officers located and recovered a stolen vehicle. During an inventory search, officers found burglary tools inside.
Driving Under the Influence / Hit & Run / Suspended License / Drug Paraphernalia – 6800 Block of Blake St.
At 8:15 PM, officers responded to a collision involving a vehicle into a house. As officers arrived on scene, the suspect vehicle drove away. Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and detained the driver. Further investigation found the driver to be under the influence with a suspended license. During the search incident to arrest, officers found drug paraphernalia in the driver’s possession. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.
Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Fairmount Ave.
At 1:04 AM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. Further investigation found the driver to have two outstanding warrants. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Assault with Deadly Weapon / Battery – 5800 Block of Alta Punta Ave.
At 1:48 AM, officers responded to a physical family fight with the suspect armed with a weapon. Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. The suspect was then transported to hospital by medics and released to the custody of the hospital.

December 27th
Vandalism – 6107 Potrero Ave.
At 8:09 AM, an officer reports a suspect shattered the front window to the vacant building sometime overnight.
Burglary / Mail Theft – 5700 block of Jordan Ave.
At 4:33 PM, officers reported a suspect had taken mail from mailboxes before entering the backyard cottage of a residence. Officers arrived on scene and located the suspect coming from out of the backyard. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
December 28th
Hit and Run / Unlicensed Driver / Obstructing / Public Intoxication – San Pablo Ave. / Cypress Ave.
At 6:07 AM, officers responded to the report of a collision between a vehicle and a city light pole. Officers arrived on scene and located the driver and passenger. The driver did not have a valid license and refused to identify themselves. The passenger was extremely intoxicated and belligerent, unable to adequately care for themself, and also refused to identify themselves. Both the driver and passenger were positively identified by witnesses and arrested. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation. The passenger was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Vandalism – 10598 San Pablo Ave. (Baskin Robbins):
At 10:03 AM, an officer reports a suspect shattered a window to the business.
Vandalism – 1400 block of Elm St.
At 4:54 PM, an officer reported a car window was shattered with no loss taken.
Shoplift - 11545 San Pablo Ave. (Ross):
At 9:44 PM, an officer reports two suspects stole items from the store. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
