All of SE MI is now under either a Winter Storm Warning or Winter Weather Advisory from 1PM today (Wednesday) to 7AM Thursday. Snow total accumulations between 3-6 inches are expected for locations under an advisory with 6-8 inches in the warning area. Locally higher amounts possible along the Lake Huron shoreline. Additionally, around and south of I-94 may see a wintry mix including freezing rain and sleet, which can lead to a light glaze of ice accumulations.

The Huron Township Police Department will be handling this storm as a snow emergency and will have additional staff working throughout the evening and night due to make the community safer. For safety reasons, we ask that residents please limit unnecessary travel, if possible, to ensure everyone’s safety. Please note that call responses to not in progress or non-emergency calls for service may be delayed or taken by phone, if appropriate. This will allow our staff to respond to the in-progress emergencies. We appreciate that our community is helpful and understanding and we are hoping for safe outcomes during this anticipated storm system.
