El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from January 5th – January 11th 
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from January 5th to January 11th.
January 5th
Public Intoxication – 10378 San Pablo Ave.
At 5:00 PM, an officer responded to a report of a person passed out on the sidewalk. Officers located the subject and found the subject was too intoxicated to care for themselves. The subject was transported to the hospital by medics. This case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office.
January 6th
Warrant Arrest - Central Ave. / Kearney Ave.
At 1:10 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 12:22 PM, an officer reports a suspect scanned and paid for one item at self-check but placed numerous items inside of their grocery bag. When confronted by store security, the suspect struck the security guard. The suspect was arrested, booked and interviewed at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Sex Offender Fail to Register / Possession of a Controlled Substance - El Cerrito Plaza:
At 8:09 PM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop. Further investigation found the pedestrian was a registered sex offender that was out of compliance. During the search incident to arrest, the pedestrian was found to be in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The pedestrian was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation.
January 7th
Strong Armed Robbery – San Pablo Ave. / Peerless Ave.
At 2:23 PM, an officer reports a suspect grabbed the victim’s purse from and fled the area.
Shoplifting / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 5:42 PM, an officer reports a suspect took items from the store without paying and fled. Officers located and arrested the suspect. During a search incident to arrest, officers found the suspect to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Assault with Deadly Weapon – San Pablo Ave. / Schmidt Ln.
At 8:04 PM, a victim reported that while walking, a vehicle stopped and shot at them with an airsoft weapon. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
Drunk in Public – 600 Block of Kearney St.
At 11:20 PM, officers responded to a subject trying to open the front door of a residence. The subject was not known to the homeowners and was found to be highly intoxicated. The subject was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence – 1200 Block of Navellier St.
At 11:45 PM, officers responded to an overturned vehicle collision. Officers arrived on scene and found the driver of the vehicle had collided with a parked vehicle. During a DUI investigation, an officer found the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.
Assault with Deadly Weapon – Hill St. / BART Path:
At 2:15 AM, a victim reports that while walking in the area, a vehicle stopped and shot at them with an airsoft weapon. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.
January 8th
Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle / Vandalism – 1500 block of S. 56th St.
At 8:23 AM, the victim reports that at some time last night, a suspect damaged their vehicle with an object and used a weapon to shoot into her vehicle.
Stolen Vehicle – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave.
At 7:57 AM, the victim reports that their vehicle was stolen sometime last night.
Shoplifting / Warrant Arrest – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 5:08 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole alcohol from the store and fled. Officers located and positively identified the suspect. The suspect was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 8:09 PM, an officer reports a suspect entered the business and stole items. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
Armed Robbery – 11821 San Pablo Ave. (McDonald’s):
At 10:30 PM, an officer reported that after ordering food, the suspect displayed a firearm at the cashier and demanded the money from the register. The suspect then fled prior to police arrival.
January 9th
Identity Theft – 6500 block of Alta Vista Dr.
At 1:00 PM, the victim reported that the suspect attempted to purchase a vehicle in their name.
Robbery – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 2:19 PM, an officer reports store employees witnessed the suspect stealing items from the store. When employees contacted the suspect, the suspect threatened to harm them. The suspect then fled from the store prior to police arrival.
Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 6:04 PM, an officer reports that a suspect entered the business and stole items. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
January 10th
Nothing to report.
January 11th
Battery / Public Intoxication - 9937 San Pablo Ave. (Lama Bar):
At 12:32 AM, officers responded to the business for an unwanted subject. Upon arrival, officers discovered the suspect was intoxicated and was asked to leave by the bar staff. The suspect refused to leave and bit a member of the staff. The suspect was placed under Citizen’s Arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with citation to a sober family member.
Robbery - 11344 San Pablo Ave. (Denny’s Parking Lot):
At 10:30 PM, a suspect stole the purse off the victim and fled the area prior to police arrival.
