The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from January 12th to January 18th.
 
January 12th
Assault - Kearney Ave. / Potrero Ave.
At 12:03 AM, an officer reports a suspect shot the victim using an airsoft weapon.

Trespass - 9900 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 8:55 PM, an officer reports the victim found the subject inside their unlocked vehicle. The subject was placed under Citizen’s Arrest and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 13th
Fraud – 350 El Cerrito Plaza (Ike’s):
At 10:52 AM, an officer reports a suspect pretending to be a corporate employee tricked an employee into depositing store money into a fraudulent account.

Organized Retail Theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1:25 PM, two suspects stole two boxes full of alcohol beverages. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

Armed Robbery – 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 2:05 PM, store staff attempted to stop a suspect from stealing until the suspect brandished a firearm at security. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

January 14th
Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 4:24 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole items from the store and fled prior to police arrival.

January 15th
Vandalism – 10125 San Pablo Ave. (Popeyes):
At 6:18 PM, officers responded to a report of vandalism in progress. The suspect was positively identified and arrested. The suspect was booked into the El Cerrito Police Department and later transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Criminal Threats – 5200 Block of Gordon Ave.
At 10:24 PM, the victim reported receiving threatening text messages.

Warrant Arrest – Carlson Blvd. / Columbia Ave.
At 12:46 AM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

January 16th
Stolen Vehicle – 11600 block San Pablo Ave.
At 1:03 PM, the victim reported their vehicle being stolen.  

Stolen Vehicle – 10636 San Pablo Ave. (24-Hour Fitness):
At 2:21 PM, the victim reported their vehicle being stolen.

Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 4:57 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole items from the store and fled prior to police arrival.

Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 5:23 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole items from the store and fled prior to police arrival.

January 17th
Warrant Arrest – 10900 San Pablo Ave.
At 3:55 PM, a subject turned themselves in on an outstanding warrant from San Jose PD. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Public Intoxication - 540 Ashbury Ave.
At 6:15 PM, officers responded to a report of a subject unable to move. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the subject was intoxicated and unable to care for themselves. The subject was transported to a local hospital by medics. The case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

January 18th
Driving Under the Influence - San Pablo Ave. / Manila Ave.
At 1:03 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and released with a citation to a sober family member. 

Vehicle Theft – 500 block of Lexington Ave.
At 9:31 AM, an officer reports their vehicle was taken overnight.

Shoplift (x 2) / Parole Violation – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 2:23 PM, then again at 4:07 PM, officers report that a known suspect stole items from the store and fled. Officers located and arrested the suspect. The suspect was positively identified and transported directly to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery - 10200 Block of San Pablo Ave.
At 10:49 PM, an officer reports two acquaintances of the victim attempted to leave the victim’s residence with the victim’s property. When the victim confronted them, the suspects used force and took the items and fled the area.
