The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from January 19th to January 25th.
January 19th
Driving Under the Influence - Carlson Blvd. / El Dorado Ave.
At 12:46 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During a DUI investigation, officers found the driver to be under the influence. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released with a citation to a sober friend.
January 20th
Theft - 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls):
At 8:18 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s cell phone while the victim was shopping.
January 21st
Shoplifting – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 9:06 AM, officers responded to a report of a theft in progress. Officers arrived on scene and detained the suspect who stole merchandise. The suspect was positively identified and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
January 22nd
Theft / Resisting a Peace Officer – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 10:34 AM, officers responded to a report of a combative suspect who stole items from the store. Officers arrived on scene and assisted the employees in placing the suspect under arrest. The suspect was booked into the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Commercial Burglary – 10945 San Pablo Ave. (Heating and Air LLC):
At 4:40 AM, officers responded to a burglary alarm from the business. The suspect had stolen items and fled the business prior to police arrival.
January 23rd
Shoplifting – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 9:21 PM, the suspect entered the business and stole items. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.
Trespassing – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 9:46 PM, the subject entered the business which they had already been banned from. Officers arrived on scene and the subject was placed under arrest. The subject was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Warrant Arrest – I-80 / Potrero Ave.
At 1:13 AM, officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop. During the investigation, officers found the driver had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. The driver was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martienz Detention Facility.
January 24th
Petty Theft – 300 block of Seaview Dr.
At 9:41 AM, a victim reports the theft of their rear license plate sometime overnight.
Grand Theft / Brandishing – 400 block of Seaview Dr.
At 9:26 AM, the victim reports two suspects were interrupted by the victim while cutting the catalytic converter out of the victim’s vehicle. One of the suspects raised the front of their shirt to display a handgun at the victim before fleeing into a nearby waiting vehicle.
Shoplift – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1:45 PM, an officer accepted the citizen’s arrest of a suspect who stole merchandise. The suspect was booked into the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Vandalism - 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 8:37 PM, an officer reports the suspect was upset over a transaction with an employee and began damaging merchandise. Officers located and arrested the suspect. The suspect was cited and released on scene.
January 25th
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 800 block of Kearney St.
At 9:47 AM, an officer located an unoccupied stolen vehicle.
Vehicle Theft – 11720 San Pablo Ave.
At 5:48 AM, an officer reported a theft of a vehicle taken between 11:00 AM on 01/24/2025 and 4:00 AM on 01/25/2025.
Vehicle Theft – 295 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 10:06 AM, an officer reported a theft of a vehicle taken sometime between 01/20/2025 and 01/25/2025.
Shoplift – 670 El Cerrito Plaza (CVS):
At 2:12 PM, an officer accepted the Citizen’s Arrest of a suspect who stole merchandise. The suspect was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

At 3:53 PM, an officer reports a suspect stole merchandise and fled prior to police arrival.
