Clayton County Family,
As of approximately 4:00 AM, the Clayton County Jail is experiencing a complete power outage. While the facility is equipped with emergency power generators, it is currently unclear what systems, if any, are operating.
The facility remains dark, with only illuminated exit signs visible.
Kitchen operations are down, preventing meal preparation.
Coolers and refrigerators are off, raising concerns about food preservation.
The infirmary is without power, affecting inmates requiring breathing machines and other critical medical equipment.
Computers, internet, and phone lines are down, limiting internal and external communication.
The safety and welfare of inmates and staff remains our top priority. Officers and medical staff are on high alert, ensuring that emergency protocols are followed. Alternative meal plans and medical accommodations are being assessed.
The Clayton County Board of Commissioners is responsible for the Brick & Mortar of the County Jail being owners of the building.
CGL Maintenance is contracted by the board to address any facility maintenance issues like power.
Georgia Power and CGL are being contacted for immediate assistance.
All questions and concerns regarding power restoration should be directed to the Clayton County Board of Commissioners and Georgia Power.
