A WINTER STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT MONDAY NIGHT TO 6 AM CST WEDNESDAY FOR THE CARL JUNCTION AREA AND MOST OF SOUTHWEST MISSOURI AND SOUTHEAST KANSAS * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 6 and 10 inches across most of the area, with locally higher amounts up to 14 inches in a few locations where snow bands develop. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central, south central, southwest, and west central Missouri. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds may gust up to 20-30 mph, especially along the I-49 corridor, leading to blowing and drifting snow. * PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains, booster cables / starter kits, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded.
